What a volume bar can confirm under a swing
Volume under a swing is a check on participation. It is not a bell that tells you to enter.
Volume arrives in the second half of the studio, after students can mark a swing without it. Put volume on the sheet too early and it becomes an excuse: the bar was tall, so the mark must be right. The bar being tall only says that more business was done. It does not say the swing is finished.
A check, not a command
We look at the volume bar under two places only. The first is the swing high or swing low that already passed the two-bar test. If that bar printed on very quiet business compared with the bars around it, we do not throw the swing away. We note the quiet in the margin and we ask whether the next bar still respects the mark.
The second place is the retest of a level that broke. A retest that holds on quieter business than the break itself is a different picture from a retest that returns on heavier business and closes back inside the range. Both pictures are written as sentences. Neither picture is an order.
What we leave off the sheet
We do not colour volume bars into campaigns, and we do not add a second average of volume so the sheet grows a new signal. The academy's printed packs show the raw bars. If a student wants an indicator at home, that work stays at home. In the room, the pencil has enough to do between the swing and the sentence underneath it.
